About Our Taap

Countertop water filtration for kitchens, supplied on subscription and installed by a technician rather than sold as a boxed appliance. The typical buyer is replacing a kettle, a filter jug and bottled water storage with one mains-connected unit.

The core product is the Home Water System II, available in white, black or pebble finishes, which dispenses chilled water from 4 to 20°C, ambient from 10 to 50°C and boiling water up to 99°C from a single tap. It uses triple filtration with UV purification, removing up to 97% of chlorine, 99.9% of microplastics and 95% of bacteria and parasites while retaining calcium, magnesium and potassium. The unit measures 27cm wide, 43cm deep and 36cm high and outputs up to 2 litres of chilled water or 1.3 litres of boiling water per minute. Alongside it sits the Mini Hot, plus a range of filters, UV lamps and accessories including bottles and glasses, with filters replaced every six months and UV lamps annually as part of the plan.

Systems are professionally installed, connecting to the mains through a small hole drilled in the countertop, with most jobs finished within an hour and coverage claimed for 99% of UK homes, including granite, marble and corian worktops. Our Taap UK Ltd, formerly Virgin Strauss Water UK Ltd, trades from London and sells direct through subscription hire or outright purchase, backed by a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and lifetime technical support.

Questions about Our Taap

What happens if I want to cancel my Our Taap subscription?

To end an agreement, customers contact Our Taap in the last month of their contract to confirm the final payment, then schedule a free collection during which the system is disconnected and removed. Cancelling within the 30-day satisfaction guarantee window means a full refund of payments made, but cancelling mid-contract makes the customer liable for the remainder of the contract amount.

How long does Our Taap take to collect a returned system?

Once a customer requests a return, Our Taap typically aims to collect the system within 5 to 10 days, arranging a convenient weekday slot. An email confirming an AM or PM time slot is sent the evening before collection.

What does the Our Taap satisfaction guarantee cover if the system is damaged?

Normal wear and tear during the satisfaction guarantee period is not charged, but damage beyond that may mean the customer is liable for repair costs before a refund can be issued. In cases of significant damage, a refund may not be possible at all.

Does Our Taap charge extra if I move house with a subscription?

No extra cost is charged; customers simply notify Our Taap of their new address and a technician will install the water system at the new property.

How is an Our Taap system installed and how long does it take?

A trained technician connects the system to the mains water supply, usually within 45 to 60 minutes, without disturbing existing plumbing, and demonstrates how the system works before leaving. Our Taap reports successful installation in 99% of UK homes.

Alternatives to Our Taap - Kitchen & Dining market

  • BIBO Also a countertop unit plumbed to the mains, available to buy outright or rent monthly, but skips the boiling function and technician visit for a lower price.
  • Quooker A fixed under-counter tap rather than a countertop appliance, bought outright with no subscription, and the most established name if a permanent fixture matters more than easy removal.
  • Zip Water An under-sink all-in-one tap that adds a sparkling water option, at a higher upfront cost and taking up more cupboard space.
  • Billi A commercial-grade boiling and chilled tap system more often seen in offices and high-end kitchens, sold through installers rather than as a subscription.
  • Brita A jug or under-sink filter with no boiling or chilling function and no installation needed, at a fraction of the cost.
