About Coolzy

Personal air conditioning units aimed at anyone whose bedroom or living space overheats in summer but who cannot or does not want to install a fixed split system. The appliances suit renters, caravan and boat owners, campers and anyone in a flat or heritage building where planning permission or landlord consent for fixed air conditioning is difficult to obtain.

The range centres on the Coolzy-Pro, a personal air conditioner that uses a small compressor and refrigerant gas to cool air by around 10°C and direct it in a horizontal stream toward the user, rather than cooling a whole room. It draws 340 Watts and delivers roughly 3,500 BTU/hr of cooling, weighs about 15kg and includes a Focus Enhancer nozzle as standard. An entry-level Coolzy-Go has also been sold, along with accessories including the Tubo Mini and Tubo Max exhaust attachments and an Igloo bed tent for extra cooling and mosquito protection on hot nights.

Coolzy was invented by Professor James Trevelyan, whose interest in cooling for Pakistan mango growers led to the technology behind it. The company, Close Comfort, is based in Australia, with the products sold online and shipped directly to customers across Europe, including the UK. Its central claim is fresh air rather than recirculation: the units are designed to run with windows open, unlike sealed split systems.

Questions about Coolzy

How does the Coolzy-Pro cool without an exhaust pipe?

The Coolzy-Pro uses miniaturised refrigeration technology to cool air by around 10°C and directs it in a focused horizontal stream toward the user rather than cooling an entire room. The small amount of waste heat produced rises to the ceiling from the rear of the unit, similar to a household fridge.

How noisy is the Coolzy-Pro air conditioner?

On high fan speed the unit produces about 54 dB at one metre, roughly the same as an electric fan, and it is quieter at medium and low speeds. Coolzy recommends running it on medium speed near the bed for sleeping, with bedding helping to absorb the sound.

How much room can a Coolzy-Pro actually cool?

Coolzy creates a personal cool zone of around 4 to 5 square metres rather than cooling an entire room, and works even outdoors in sheltered spots. It is designed to be used close by, ideally within one to two metres.

How often do the Coolzy-Pro filters need cleaning?

Coolzy has three air filters that should be checked roughly every two weeks, with cleaning needed once a noticeable amount of dust builds up. Filters are rinsed under a tap, and an annual professional clean is recommended in very dusty locations.

What is the Igloo tent accessory used with Coolzy for?

The Igloo bed tent is recommended when a bedroom regularly exceeds 27°C at night, as it concentrates cooling over the bed and provides mosquito protection without chemicals. It also reduces the unit's power draw to around 180 Watts average, which helps with off-grid battery setups.

How long does Coolzy delivery take?

Orders are normally delivered between two and seven days after 1pm on the next business day following the order, with some remote or island locations taking longer. Shipping to major metro areas is included in the retail price, while other locations may incur an additional cost calculated at checkout.

How do I return a Coolzy order?

Buyers within the EU can cancel within 14 days of receiving the product without giving a reason, provided it is returned in its original condition with all accessories and packaging. The buyer pays the return shipping costs, and deductions may apply if the item is returned dirty, damaged or missing parts.

What does the Coolzy warranty cover?

Coolzy units and accessories are covered against defects in design, materials and workmanship for two years if registered, or one year if not, though the purchaser must return the unit to an authorised dealer and cover transport costs. The warranty excludes damage from misuse, unauthorised repairs, corrosive environments or improper power supply.

Can I cancel or change a Coolzy order after placing it?

Cancellations are accepted before an order is dispatched, though a €15 admin fee applies to cover payment processing charges. Once dispatched, the order cannot be cancelled and must instead go through the returns process.

What happens if my Coolzy arrives damaged?

Customers should check the packaging for obvious damage on delivery and refuse the parcel if it is clearly damaged. If damage is discovered afterwards, the customer must contact Coolzy immediately or on the next business day, and products are insured for loss or damage until delivery.
